Emmy Nominations make me happy
Being a movie snob who generally looks down his nose at the world of TV as a home for people who couldn’t make it in movies, I usually couldn’t give a rat’s ass about the Emmy’s… BUT, there has been some damn fine TV a brewin’ over the last couple years… and my movie snob tone has softened.
The nominations for the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning and I am quite happy at who has been included and who has been excluded from the lists.
I won’t include the full list of nominations as they are 67 pages long, but here are my personal highlights:
GLEE – 12 nominations including
- Lea Michelle for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
- Matthew Morrison for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series
- Jane Lynch for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series
- Mike O’Malley for Outstanding Guest Actor on a Comedy Series
- Outstanding Comedy Series
BREAKING BAD – 7 nominations including
- Aaron Paul for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (VERY VERY WELL DESERVED… he was AMAZING this season)
- Bryan Cranston for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series
- Outstanding Drama Series
MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE – 1 nomination
- Andre Braugher for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series
THE PACIFIC – 24 nominations but none for acting?! LAME-O
TRUE BLOOD – 5 nominations including
- Outstanding Drama Series
UNITED STATES OF TARA – 2 nominations
- Outstanding Cast for a Comedy Series
- Toni Collette for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
- Tara’s sister and kids should have gotten some Supporting love though
and the show that deservedly got snubbed…
ENTOURAGE
only 1 nomination and it is for Sound Mixing?! You mean Jeremy Piven isn’t raking in the gold for his groundbreaking paintball scene from the finale episode?! I have a serious love/hate relationship with this show. Last season was an absolute crap fest… yet I watched every episode. I’m glad the folks at the Emmys aren’t as hopelessly pulled into this schlockfest as I am.
