Attempting to legitimize a concept that was universally panned a couple weeks back when it was announced, it sounds like NBC and Bryan Fuller (creator of Pushing Daisies) have brought Bryan Singer on board to direct and exec produce a TV reboot to The Munsters.

Damn it. As much as I want to write this one off as a dumb idea and already commit myself to hating it when it pops up next pilot season, Singer has earned my respect his role in the X-Men series and had a similar type of relationship with the pilot/creation of House as he will with The Munsters. AND, while I didn’t watch Pushing Daisies, it looked pretty damn cool and everyone who did watch it dug it.

But then there’s that whole fact that they are turning The Munsters into an hour-long drama that supposedly plays to the Twilight crowd… which reminds me of MTV’s bastardization of Teen Wolf… which I won’t watch out of principle because there’s no van surfing.

Watch this video. Everyone in it seems to have such sadness in their voices. Seems like a couple of them were near tears as they tried to choke out a convincing “I’m so excited to be back (in this movie I did 10 years ago thinking I’d be an action star or at least on a semi-regular sitcom like the fucking Band Camp girl by now… but no, I get to be a 35 year old raping a pie again).”

 

I actually clicked on a banner on a website today! And what was that banner? Well, I’ll tell you.

It was an ad for TUACA (a yummy wonderful Italian liqueur) that featured the tattoo artist, Corey Miller (greaser looking dude from LA Ink). I think Corey is pretty bad ass and was intrigued by the partnership, so I clicked.

I was forced to ‘Like’ the Facebook page to access materials once I clicked through, which I was cool with because I dig the brand and the spokesperson. I watched a couple videos… and now I want some TUACA.

Job well done advertiser.

There’s no news here… not sure why I wrote it. I guess it’s a little affirmation that what I do for a living works.

Audi’s A2 concept car is on display at Art Basel’s Design Miami press event, accompanied by over 2,000 LEDs and several hanging Xbox Kinects to create a “digital street.” I’m still digging for a video to see the full extent of the functionality of this display, but it looks like the Kinect sensors track consumers within the booth and displays imagery on the LEDs accordingly.

I’m hoping they used this for more than just mushroom-induce bright colors displays and incorporated some real footage to make it look like the car is on the road.

Yesterday, I posted a pic of a leaked PEZ dispenser showing what we assume to be the likeness of the villain in the Spiderman reboot, The Lizard. Today, a Russian site has released concept art of the character. This is supposedly from a little while back in the process, so he’ll be a bit more packed with muscles in the final film, but still… a little more compelling to look at than PEZ.

I’m digging the image. Looks pretty darn cool to me. What do you think?

When the cracked face hits the ground in this ad, it made me feel icky… which I suppose makes me want to get clean… which I suppose I could use Old Spice Body Wash for… an odd purchase path… but definitely a purchase path, nonetheless.

Laura Lang has been selected as the new CEO for the monster publishing house, Time Inc. Lang will be making the move over from her current gig as chief exec over at the digital agency, Digitas. Lang will be filling the hole created back in February when then CEO, Jack Griffith, suddenly departed his role.

The nominations for this year’s Independent Spirit Awards were just released and, at first glance, I’m pretty damn happy with them.

The reason I’m happy is because Drive took in 4 nominations including Best Pic, Best Actor (Ryan Gosling), and Best Director (Nicolas Winding Refn).

Also happy because Michelle Williams got a nod for My Week With Marilyn (she rocks… a lot).

I’m a little surprised Midnight in Paris only got one nomination.

I’ll send more thoughts if they come up later when I’m not sitting in a parking lot on my mobile telephone.

The first award show of the season, The Gotham Awards, happened last night and had some odd results. Tree of Life (weird movie I still need to see) and Beginners (gay dad movie) split the main award of Best Feature. Don’t expect that to be mirrored at the Oscars.

And, Felicity Jones took the award for Breakthrough Actor for her role in Like Crazy. THAT is the odd choice to me. She was really good…but better than Shailene Woodley in The Descendants?! I think not.

P.S. Spirit Awards nominations will be out by the time you read this… I’ll be on the road when they hit but will try and write something later today to respond.
