Bane breaking the Bat?

December 5th, 2011

A behind the scenes candid photo from the set of The Dark Knight Rises has hit the web and it’s got me all confused. The shot shows Tom Hardy in full Bane costume pretending to break the back of one of the crew members over his knee. If you’re a Batman spaz like me, you this image immediately brings you back to the most famous of Bane moments, when he breaks the back of Batman over his knee, leaving Bats a paraplegic.

Many have theorized that this back-breaking plot will be in the new film… but there’s no way Tom Hardy would mess around taking shots like this backstage if it could potentially ruin a MAJOR plot point of the notoriously guarded Chris Nolan’s final Batman flick. OR… maybe they knew we would assume there’s no way we would think Hardy would take this pic if the back-breaking was in the movie but it really is in the movie and they’re trying to screw with us! This situation makes me feel like this:

Depressing American Reunion set visit video

November 30th, 2011

Watch this video. Everyone in it seems to have such sadness in their voices. Seems like a couple of them were near tears as they tried to choke out a convincing “I’m so excited to be back (in this movie I did 10 years ago thinking I’d be an action star or at least on a semi-regular sitcom like the fucking Band Camp girl by now… but no, I get to be a 35 year old raping a pie again).”

A PEZ-less look at Lizard in The Amazing Spiderman

November 30th, 2011

Yesterday, I posted a pic of a leaked PEZ dispenser showing what we assume to be the likeness of the villain in the Spiderman reboot, The Lizard. Today, a Russian site has released concept art of the character. This is supposedly from a little while back in the process, so he’ll be a bit more packed with muscles in the final film, but still… a little more compelling to look at than PEZ.

I’m digging the image. Looks pretty darn cool to me. What do you think?

Spirit Award Nominations make me happy

November 29th, 2011

The nominations for this year’s Independent Spirit Awards were just released and, at first glance, I’m pretty damn happy with them.

The reason I’m happy is because Drive took in 4 nominations including Best Pic, Best Actor (Ryan Gosling), and Best Director (Nicolas Winding Refn).

Also happy because Michelle Williams got a nod for My Week With Marilyn (she rocks… a lot).

I’m a little surprised Midnight in Paris only got one nomination.

I’ll send more thoughts if they come up later when I’m not sitting in a parking lot on my mobile telephone.

Gotham Awards presented last night

November 29th, 2011

The first award show of the season, The Gotham Awards, happened last night and had some odd results. Tree of Life (weird movie I still need to see) and Beginners (gay dad movie) split the main award of Best Feature. Don’t expect that to be mirrored at the Oscars.

And, Felicity Jones took the award for Breakthrough Actor for her role in Like Crazy. THAT is the odd choice to me. She was really good…but better than Shailene Woodley in The Descendants?! I think not.

P.S. Spirit Awards nominations will be out by the time you read this… I’ll be on the road when they hit but will try and write something later today to respond.

Lizard from The Amazing Spiderman revealed by PEZ?

November 29th, 2011

It would appear that the first tangible evidence of what Rhys Ifans’ Lizard will look like comes to us in the form of a leaked PEZ dispenser. Odd. What do you think? I’m a little bored by it.

Clip from new Toy Story short

November 15th, 2011

Check out a clip from the new Toy Story short running in front of The Muppets called “Small Fry.” The story follows a group of discarded “Fun Meal” toys and their interactions with Andy’s crew of children’s playthings.

NEW AWESOME shot from the Batman shoot in NY

November 11th, 2011

Just got the shot below from The Dark Knight Rises set in New York sent to me by an advertising person that happens to have an office I wouldn’t mind camping out in for the next couple weeks. It took me hours and hours of standing on bridge in the middle of the night in downtown LA with a bunch of paparazzi to get anything worthwhile from the Batman set.

This appears to be the new Batwing in it’s parked state with Christian Bale in full bat attire shooting a dialogue scene (hence the boom mic). The ice on the vehicle and little dusting of snow around the platform fits with all the other sets I’ve seen in Pittsburgh and LA.

If you know of anyone with offices overlooking this Batman insanity, PLEASE SEND PICS MY WAY!!!!
