2012 coming to TV?

November 6th, 2009

King of the apocalypse, Roland Emmerich, has revealed to EW that there are plans developing to follow up his flick 2012 with a TV series… tentatively called 2013. The film’s exec producer, who also happens to exec produce Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice, has apparently been working his charm with the ABC folks… it looks like the show may take the place vacated by Lost.

The series would pick up where the movie leaves off and show how a group or groups of people go about rebuilding society. I was hoping the movie would address that topic and that the whole disaster-porn shit they show in the trailers was only the first part of the movie… guess not. This movie really is going to suck… I assumed a studio wouldn’t be dumb enough to show all the cool shit in the trailers… but if this really is just a movie about big earthquakes and we’ve already seen basically every major world landmark be destroyed in the preview, then what’s left?

Jay Leno: A very candid interview with Broadcasting & Cable

November 2nd, 2009

Read this interview (linked below). Jay gives a lengthy, exclusive sit down with Broadcasting & Cable to talk about the negative press on his move to 10pm and what he thinks about it. It basically boils down to the fact that Jay is very aware of what people are saying about the show… it’s the same kind of thing he dealt with when he replaced Johnny Carson. He expects to continue to work until he stops making NBC money, at which time he expects them to give him the boot. He also expects that the whole Jay bashing trend will eventually subside, saying that “I think people like a fighter. And if you just keep swinging, eventually people are going to get tired of hitting you. They’re going to say, ‘We’ve been beating this guy up for six months, let’s move on.’ That’s sort of the way I look at it.” (I really respect Jay for doing this interview… it actually makes me want to watch his show.)

Ewoks getting crazy

November 1st, 2009

On Friday. the cast of the Today Show rocked some mildly amusing Star wars themed costumes. What made the show awesome was the antics of some little people in Ewoks attire. Skip ahead couple minutes into the video to see the Ewoks pissing off the regular Today Show by drinking martinis, throwing stuff at the boring “Halloween on a budget” lady, moonwalking, fighting, and even humping a little Al Roker leg.

Is Leno to blame for KNBC’s 11p news drop off?

October 28th, 2009

NBC’s Los Angeles affiliate, KNBC, has seen a 26% drop in A25-54 ratings for their 11p news broadcast since same time last year. While this drop probably can’t be solely blamed on the stinker that is Jay Leno @ 10p, I wouldn’t say it’d be a stretch if we said it’s mostly his fault.

NBC developing legal drama

October 28th, 2009

Actor, Idris Elba, is partnering with Battlestar Galactica & Caprica exec producer, David Eick, to executive produce a legal drama for NBC. The as of yet untitled drama is about a “hard-hitting” vigilante lawyer who uses any means necessary to defend his clients against a corrupt legal system. (So, now that the whole Leno @ 10 thing is failing, what is a struggling network to do? Copy CBS maybe?)
